About Scythed

Scythed is a Power Metal solo project by German musician Markus Tillmann, developed between 2022 and 2025. The main writing and recording took place from 2023 to 2025. With a background as a bassist in various bands and a growing focus on guitar since 2021, Markus composed the majority of the music and lyrics for the project.

To bring the songs to life, he collaborated with vocalist Mau and drummer Jacques, whose performances helped shape the album’s final sound. Combining melodic guitar work, driving rhythms, and powerful vocals, Scythed blends classic Power Metal elements with a clear and personal musical vision.

The result is a cohesive debut that showcases individual craftsmanship and strong collaboration.

Markus Tillmann is a musician from Meppen, Germany, with a background as a bassist in various bands and a growing dedication to guitar since 2021. Between 2022 and 2025, he developed his own material, taking on the roles of songwriter and instrumentalist for guitars and bass. His interest in classic Power Metal and historical themes led him to Boudica, a legendary figure who became a symbol of defiance and independence. This inspiration shaped the concept and lyrics of Resistance, Scythed’s debut. Markus’s work reflects both his personal path as a musician and his fascination with stories that carry strength and resilience.

What is it about?

Scythed’s debut Resistance takes you through one of ancient history’s most dramatic chapters: the Roman invasion of Britain and Boudica’s rebellion. Told across eight tracks in chronological order, it spans conquest, betrayal, rising defiance and the cost of war – from the march of the legions in Gladius and Mona, to the uprising in Iceni and Allies, and the explosive climax in Boudica and Resistance, before closing with the haunting reflection of Injustice.
